NOT SHAMPOO

aka hair favourites of the moment. There have been a number of exciting launches in shampoo/conditioner science from the likes of brands like Live Clean, GLISS, Pantene, Garnier, and John Frieda and Redken. At the moment, I'm shampoo-ed out and having a hard time determining the difference between Shampoo A and Shampoo B, Conditioner X and Conditioner Y. Lately, what has been standing out to me is everything in between.

THE SERUM - Pai-Shau BiPhasic Infusion
New-to-me brand Pai Shau (meaning "Passion for Life") is Toronto-born haircare company that incorporates the anti-aging benefits of tea into their hair products. Their secret ingredient is a "Signature Tea Complex" that features African Red Bush, White, Black, Pu-erh and Japanese Matcha Green Teas. Specifically, the Pai-Shau BiPhasic Infusion is a hair oil that does it all - softens hair, adds moisture, protects from thermal and environmental damage, tames fly-aways, and moisturizes. For an oil, it's very lightweight and can be used on wet or (sparingly) on dry hair without causing oiliness or product buildup.

Price & Availability: $45 CAD at Trade Secrets (March 31st) and Pai-Shau.com

THE TEXTURE & VOLUME - Redken Windblown 05
Other hairsprays are not my thing. They make my hair feel crunchy, look stiff and smell weird. The Redken Windblown 05 is different. Think effortlessly windblown, without the need to bear the -20°C windchill. The brand describes it as "mild control" which is pretty spot on. It gives an airy look to the hair with a soft-matte finish, while the hold is strong (9 to 5) without feeling sticky. The end result is a lightweight "I-woke-up-like-this" hairstyle - lots of movement and natural volume.

Price & Availability:
~$22 CAD at salons, Ulta and LookFantastic

THE DRY SHAMPOO & FRAGRANCE - The Philosophy Amazing Grace Dry Shampoo
I am a lazy girl... so much so that I could go 4-5 days without washing.  The Philosophy Amazing Grace Dry Shampoo keeps my hair in check, preventing it from getting oily (or stinky). Bonus - it smells like the Philosophy Amazing Grace Fragrance = bergamot, lavender, jasmine, water lily and base note of musk.

Price & Availability: $35 CAD at Sephora and Philosophy.com
