Sephora Formula X #ColorCuratrors Collection 2016 with Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere (March)

Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere is Sephora Formula X's #ColorCurator of the month! She's a lifestyle (fashion, food, beauty, DIY + decor) blogger who's even got a book and an instagram husband, contributors and employees too. Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere is basically the OG (original gangster) blogger, as her blog has been around since 2008 and I remember Cupcakes and Cashmere as being one of the first blogs that I ever read.

Pearl & Daisy Natural Soap Company // #Take12

Did you know that it takes only 12 minutes to soak in the benefits of a bath? Pearl & Daisy is an all-natural soap company founded in Nova Scotia, Canada and they've made it their mission to spread the word about what bathes can do for your beauty, health and well-being by challenging everyone to make a promise to #Take12.

While I'm typically a shower gal, every once in a while a bath is the kind of relaxation that I need to relieve me of all the aches, pains and woes of everyday student life. If I could #Take12 everyday, I most certainly would.

Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and Exfoliating Scrub // #BioreBakingSoda

Thinking about baking soda has got me reminiscing about my elementary school day science experiments. Does any one else remember the super cool volcano baking soda experiment? Now, baking soda is making a comeback by way of skincare. New at the drugstore are the Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser ($6.99) and the Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub ($9.99), both targeted at combination skin and meant to provide a gentle yet deep clean. I tested the products for one week...

CoverGirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar! Lip Balms in 10 Gumdrop and 07 Soda

There's all sorts of rumours going around that the CoverGirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar! Lip Balms ($7.99) are dupes of the FRESH Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments ($28 CAD). They're not. Sure both products have the word sugar and both are tinted balms but they're different.

EVENT: MAKE UP FOR EVER #ProSculpting

This past weekend, MAKE UP FOR EVER hosted a sculpting workshop and a preview of their new Pro Sculpting Collection at the Al Green sculpture studio in Toronto.

(pssstt... if you're looking for the makeups, scroll to the very bottom)

Makeup artistry is inevitably interrelated to the fine arts. As such, the MAKE UP FOR EVER team was kind enough to help connect the dots between the two. The furthest I ever went in fine art education was elementary school, so my nerves started to kick in as soon as I arrived.

In case you missed it, Loblaws (which owns Joe Fresh) closed the deal to acquire Shoppers Drug Mart for $12 billion and some change in 2014. This means that Loblaws things (like President's Choice Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookies and Joe Fresh Beauty) are rolling out at local Shoppers Drugmart stores across Canada.

OPI New Orleans Collection for Spring 2016

New Orleans is the inspiration of OPI's latest Spring 2016 Collection. The collection features 12 shades that capture the sprit of the city.

Having never been to New Orleans myself, the only things I know about New Orleans come from Beyonce's Formation music video and the Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals. So here's a snippet from the brand:
"From the filigreed iron of its balconies to the jazz and jambalaya that permeate its air, New Orleans personifies grace, gumption and joie de vivre. The city’s indomitable spirit is the inspiration for OPI’s spring 2016 collectionNew Orleans Collection by OPI features 12 gorgeous new nail lacquers and matching GelColors that take nails and toes from beignets at CafĂ© du Monde all the way to nightcaps on Bourbon Street in style. Sweet, spicy, soulful and vibrant, the palette is perfect for a town where parades pop up everywhere, and dancing in the streets is de rigueur."

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in Honeycomb, Chai, Spritzer, Gazpacho, Beetroot and Black Truffle

I cried a little when Bite Beauty discontinued their Luminous Creme Lipstick range. But I wept tears of joy when I received a package of six of the new Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in the mail.

The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks ($30 CAD/$26 USD) are a new range of 34 high-impact lipsticks. In French, an "Amuse Bouche" is a single, bite-sized appetizer served compliments of the chef. The Amuse Bouche is a vehicle for the chef to convey "big ideas in small bites". Fittingly enough, Bite lipsticks are formulated with food-grade ingredients and processed in low-heat to preserve the nutrients, vitamins and omega oils of the fresh pressed fruit. Their products are made in downtown Toronto.

THEFACESHOP Real Nature Hydro Gel Mask in Red Ginseng and Green Tea

THEFACESHOP Real Nature Hydro Gel Mask ($7 each) come two varieties featuring nature-derived ingredients - green tea for brightening and red ginseng for anti-aging. Face masks (+ a candle and a good book) are the best way to wind down after a stressful day. I've never tried a gel face mask, though lots of Asian beauty brands have them, so I was excited for my first attempt...

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard

The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard ($35) is a pricey little number for my student budget (I spend less than $35 a week on groceries). But after reading 1203912381023 positive reviews on the stuff, I decided to dish out the cash because my under eyes deserve nothing but luxury.

#MANIMONDAY - Simple Negative Space Manicure

After monkeys and geometric patterns, my eyes were craving something softer and simpler on my nails. The classic French tip manicure is a bit too outdated and traditional for my tastes, so I mixed it up a bit.

GIVEAWAY + REVIEW: Valentine's Day Pampered ft. I Love..., COLAB & 7th Heaven (CANADA ONLY) #CBBMyValentine

It's Valentine's Day and I'm sharing a little love. I'll be reviewing a few products from I love..., COLAB and 7th Heaven (formerly Montagne Jeunesse) and also giving them away!

The I Love... Vanilla and Ice Cream Bath and Shower Creme ($9.99) are new and now available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix in Canada. The bath and shower cremes are also available in "flavours" of Cream & Coconut, Mango & Papaya, and Blackberry & Raspberry. The Bath and Shower Creme is, in more simplistic terms, a scented body wash. Previously, I've tried the I Love.. Strawberries & Cream Bath and Shower Creme which was delightful. Vanilla and Ice Cream is sweet and decadent. Like REALLY sweet. Anything that smells like dessert gets a thumbs up in my books, so the Vanilla and Ice Cream scent from I Love... gets just that.

New scents of Youtuber Ruth Crilly's COLAB Dry Shampoo in Tokyo and New York ($5.49 for 50mL and $9.99 for 200mL) will be available as of March 2016 exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix in Canada. Both scents are available in the invisible formula and the extra volume formula. Having tried COLAB previously, I'm preferential to the invisible formula, as the extra volume formula makes my hair feel gritty and leaves a white strong white cast.

The COLAB Dry Shampoo in New York has a fruity scent, which to me smells a lot like fruit punch. "Fruity" is the last word I'd use to describe the city of New York. I'd imagine New York to be something muskier and less girly or bright. Regardless, I'm a big fan of fruity things so it's no big deal. The COLAB Dry Shampoo in Tokyo is described as an "oriental fragrance", which pretty much means mandarin, sandalwood and orchid. The floral from the orchid and the earthiness of the sandalwood makes this scent more refined than New York. I think I prefer Tokyo but New York is a great pick-me-up for days when you want to smell sweet.

Same great product, new name! Montagne Jeunesse, a very hard to pronounce name, just got rebranded to 7th Heaven. The single-use packages still have creepy smiling ladies with fruit/vegetable eyes and their masks remain all natural and cruelty free!

THE PRIZE ($40 value)

> COLAB Dry Shampoo in Tokyo (50mL) and New York (50mL)

Kerastase Cristaliste Shampoo, Conditioner, Deep Conditioner and Double Sculpt Serum // #LOVEWEEK

In celebration of #LOVEWEEK, I've been testing out an all pink haircare line. The Kerastase Cristalliste Shampoo Line is all pink everything. Kerastase says that the range is enriched with a "Liquid Light Complex", to gently untangle hair, cleanse roots and make lengths glitter like crystals in the light.

STEP 1: Kerastase Cristalliste Luminous Perfecting Shampoo ($42). For free-flowing, lightweight hair.
STEP 2A: Kerastase Cristalliste Luminous Perfecting Conditioner ($47) For free-flowing, silky hair.

Lipstick Queen Green Lipstick in Frog Prince // #LOVEWEEK

This gem from Lipstick Queen is emerald green. It's Lipstick Queen Frog Prince ($31). But don't be fooled. It's not actually green.

Foreo Luna Mini in Pink (vs. Clarisonic SmartProfile) // #LOVEWEEK

There's a new skincare device in my life. Since winning Rae's giveaway last December, I've been using the Foreo Luna Mini in Pink ($119) on the daily. Before that I was on a Clarisonic kick, so I thought it'd be fun have a little ~battle of the skincare devices~. For a full review of the Clarisonic SmartProfile, check out my post here.

An introduction to the Foreo Luna Mini...
It's a small version of the original Foreo Luna, a silicone skincare technology suitable for all skin types that uses T-sonic vibrations for deep and gentle cleansing. It's meant to remove dead skin cells, and unclog pores of dirt, oil and makeup residue, while also brightening the skin and enhancing the absorption of skincare. According to Foreo Luna Mini clinical trials, it removes 99.5% of dirt and 98.5% of makeup residue.

Too Faced Love Flush Long Lasting 16-Hour Blush in How Deep is Your Love?, I Will Always Love You, Justify My Love & Baby Love // #LOVEWEEK

It's #LOVEWEEK on the blog. Not to celebrate the fact that Sunday is Valentine's Day but to acknowledge the fact that all things cute, pink, sparkly and/or heart shaped are necessary in life. Because you can be amazing and independent and happy with or without a significant other, and cute beauty things can oftentimes enhance whatever situation you might be in. To kick it off, it's a product that I've fallen in love with...

Everything about the Too Faced Love Flush Long Lasting 16-Hour Blushes ($32) is pretty freaking great. I just can't get over these blushes:
  • Love is the name of the game.
  • Each blush is named after a love song.
  • The packaging is in the shape of a heart.
  • There are little love bunnies etched onto the powder.
  • The staying power is kind of like how most would dream of how love should be, long-lasting (if not eternal).

#MANIMONDAY - Year of the Monkey Nail Art

Happy Chinese New Year! In celebration of the Year of the Monkey, I went a little bananas on my nails. Red symbolizes good fortune and joy, while yellow signifies neutrality and good luck. Paired together, red and yellow make for some prosperous nail art.

FOOD FRIDAY: #TaiwanTreat Subscription Box

I used to tell people that dessert was my favourite meal of the day but with three hour classes that extend through lunch time I'd like to revise that statement and say that snack time is my new favourite meal of the day because it lasts pretty much all day long.

And the only thing better than snack time... is snack time with international goodies! I was sent a Taiwan Treat Box to review, which has been helping me to step up my in-class snack game. Taiwan Treat is a monthly snack subscription box that aims to deliver authentic Taiwanese snacks, candies, treats, chips, ramen noodles, coffees and teas from Taiwan to your front door.

Demeter Foolproof Blending Duo in Clean Skin & Sunshine // #CBBFoolProofBlend

What does sunshine smell like? How about clean skin? I mean... aromas like waffles and gingerbread are pretty distinctive scent memories. But it's not like I can go up to the sun and smell it... nor can I really smell myself when I'm clean (the only thing I can smell is LUSH).

In an attempt to bottle the scents of Sunshine and Clean Skin as fragrances, Demeter has paired the two in their Foolproof Blending Duo Kit ($35), which also includes 4 droppers, a funnel and an extra bottle so you can blend the two together for a DIY scent.
