Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk

The Maybelline Colour Tattoos were one of the most raved about products of last year. They are compared to the likes of MAC paint pots and other higher-end cream shadows. I don't often see reviews or posts about the colour pomegranate punk, but I thought it would be an interesting shade to try out.

In April of last year, I bought mine at Shoppers for $4.99 (on sale). I've definitely been neglecting this product because (1) I like to use my fingers to put it on, so it makes my fingers dirty (2) The colour is not an everyday "neutral".

L to R: Applied with Concealer Brush // Applied with Fingers // Applied with Concealer Brush over Primer

Colour. I would describe the colour as a slightly shimmery brown-cranberry.The pigmentation is great and primer makes it even better. I've used it a couple times as both eyeliner and eyeshadow. I'd say it works a lot better as shadow because it takes a couple layers to work as liner. I would love to have this colour in a lipstick.

Staying Power. It doesn't last 24 hours per say, but it lasts all day.

Texture. The formula is very smooth, but if you apply it with your fingers you have to be careful to squish the uneven little chunks. Using a brush will prevent this.

Ease of Removal. It's a long-wear product, so either makeup remover or a hot shower will take this product off.

Overall. Especially for the price, this is a great product.  I really like the colour and the formula. I'm sort of writing this post as a reminder of why I like it and that I should use it more often. For now, I won't be buying any other colours because I'd like to use up the products I already have.

Have you tried this product? What's your favourite shade of Colour Tattoo?

  1. I have this in the bronze shade and I love it. This one looks really pretty though, I love burgundy shades. Maybe if you don't reach for it often you could use it as a crease colour?

  2. I love using and collecting the color tattoos so much! Pomegranate punk is so beautiful. My most used shade of these is bad to the bronze because it is neutral. Painted purple and tenacious teal are my favorites though!

  3. I've heard really good things about these Colour Tattoos but haven't tried them. I don't really like using my fingers to apply shadow and I agree with you, these types of cream shadows look better applied that way! I do think this one is a gorgeous colour though... bet you could do a great smokey eye with this as the base.

  10. I still haven't bought this shade yet simply BECAUSE of it's intense color? I have no problem wearing colors, I just haven't found my way of wearing burgundy colors that won't make me look yucky. LOL

  11. I have this shade but have to say mine is super neglected! I don't think I've worn it since I first bought it and swatched it for my blog :p It's a really nice cranberry colour though, great for a smoky eye. My favourite Color Tattoo is definitely Bad to the Bronze - I use it all the time :)

  12. Omg I actually just bought this and was going to do a review as well! I was reluctant at first because I thought it would make my eye look red, but it goes great with my skintone actually :) I only apply it with fingers, I cant use brushes and cream shadows if my life depended on it

  14. I love the Maybelline Colour Tattoo formulas, they are just so creamy and easy to apply- and I love apply the gorgeous formulation with my fingers! My favourite is definitely the wearable Bad to the Bronze as it is such a great neutral shade :) Pomegranate Punk would look really nice as a lipstick shade!

  18. I'm loving how this color looks! I got one of the other purple shades (I forgot the name), but it didn't last as long or was as pigmented as this. But I've also read that pigmentation/staying power varies by shade :/

    1. I've heard the same... I think the shimmery ones are probably more "pigmented".. It's hard to find a good matte.

  21. I haven't tried any yet :( I was trying to use the stuff I had before I bought new items but man I love this color! It's really pretty but I don't know
If I could pull it off. I was surprised in the swatches that it wasn't as bright as I thought maybe it would be? Great post either way it's making me need to go shopping for this! Lol

  25. I just bought the same colour, Steph! I went looking for these tonight as I've heard nothing but great things about them. I was a bit disappointed to only find 8 shades! I don't know if it was just this one store or what. But this shade is super pretty! :)
