Into the cold... but still warm & cozy

I swear in one of the days this week, the temperature dropped from 10C to -5C. With wind chill, I think it's about -15C. Sorry for going all weather woman on you guys, but I truly envy you girls who live in nice, temperate, warm climates.

I don't spend vast amounts of time outside, but I take public transit to work, which requires me to walk to bus stops and wait in the cold. So, I've compiled a collection of accessories and whatnot that keep me warm and cozy.

Black Headband || Hanes || $?

I kind of stole this little knitted gem from my mom's room. It keeps my ears nice and warm. I think what's best is that it's simple and black. On the downside, it messes up my hair like mad. What's worse than hat hair? headband hair. but I ignore that and wear it in the name of warmth.

Stripe Rainbow Hat || Urban Outfitters || $5

I picked up this hipster little number from UO on Sale. It's certainly more casual and the rainbow speckling adds a little pop of colour to my everyday black pea coat, black dress pants, and black hair.

White & Tan Knit Hat || ? || ?

I have absolutely no idea where I got this, but I like to call it my French hat. It's probably not even French. Is it called a beret? Can someone tell me what it's called?

Steve Madden Lace-up Booties || Marshall's || $35

This is one of my favourite bargains of all time. Marshall's typically sells brands like Steve Madden, so I picked it up in a clearance section. They do have a nice-sized heel [sorry for the lack of photo] and I love the rugged combat-esque look.

Beige Infinity Scarf || Aldo Accessories || $?

My boyfriend bought this for me for Christmas and it has become one of my everyday staple pieces. It's thick and warm, especially when I wrap it around my neck, not twice, but three times.

Vancouver 2010 Olympics Mittens || The Bay || $10

Canada pride! They're about three years old now, and looking a bit frayed, but I wear them anyways. They remind me of myself cheering in front of the TV :)

Tribal Gloves || ? || ?

My Mom gifted these to me a few years back. I recall her telling me they were made by a Tibetan monk. I love these because the match my everyday neutral colour palette and they're nice and warm.

Pea Coat || Banana Republic || $40

My typical outdoor outfit. Another great deal, this Banana Republic pea coat was originally $140, on sale for $80, and 50% off sale. It's a little different from the norm, as it has an XL hood which protects my face from harsh winds!

... and last but not least, let's not forget the warm dollar store socks. I don't wear these in public, but they're the best thing since sliced bread. :)

Is it cold where you're living? What do you wear to keep cozy?

  1. It's a little colder where I am, I am about an hour north of Toronto so the temp is usually 2-4 degrees colder here ;)
    I have some fuzzy socks like these, they keep me nice and cozy. Not a fan of hats but I do wear a lot of scarves in the winter!

  5. Hello, I most definitely live where it gets down right nasty cold. I try not to partake in any winter activity. I do love those fuzzy socks though, and anything lined with fleece. I am your newest follower (GFC), and found you via 'I Love My Online Friends Hop'. I hope you have a great day, and stay warm, spring is almost here.

  8. Thanks for linking up with the Meet & Greet Blog Hop!

    We moved here to Hawaii last August, so it stays typically in the 80's. As nice as it is, I DO miss the typical winters though! :)

  23. I can't bare the cold weather in ny as well. 2 weeks ago the weather was like 10 - 19 degrees and I just got sick from it. I think I have enough winter around. I hope spring will be around the corner soon.
