February Ipsy/Glam Bag - First Impressions

This month's Ipsy theme was "Red Carpet Ready". I would have liked something Valentine's Day themed.... Sorry...I'm a little crazy about themes... but here are my first impressions of the products:

Costal Scents Eyeshadow Sample Set in Glitz and Glamour || 7/4 sample set: $2.50
Mica Beauty Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner || full size: $35
Lash Card Deluxe Sample || 4/10 size: $2.79
Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer || 1/2 size: $14.50
Pop Beauty Smoky Lash Kapow Mascara || full size: $18.50

TOTAL VALUE: $72.79

The bag. Nice! I like the shape and the red lining does make it ultra red-carpet.

Lash Cards. I think products are a waste of money and materials. No offence to anybody that uses or enjoys them, but even Michelle Phan had a video (way back when) about how to use business cards as  lash cards. I haven't tried these yet but I'm hoping the curvature on the card will fit ok to the shape of my eyes. I don't really get mascara on my eyelids, but I guess using the cards is worth a shot.

Candlelight, Incognito, Ashen, Gunmetal

Costal Scents Eyeshadow Sampler. The textures of these shadows are smooth. I also like how they come in a teeny tiny size. Like most beauty products, I've never finished a full-sized eyeshadow, so minis are just fine with me. Funnily enough, the two lightest shades (the sliver and pale gold) are ones that I don't quite have in my collection. The other two are things that are readily available in other palettes for me, and shades that I only typically use as a subtle liner.

Pop Beauty Lash Kapow. After trying Pop Beauty Nail Varnishes, I'm pretty curious about their products in general. I don`t use mascara on an every day basis and I haven't opened this one yet, as I just started using Benefit They're Real! from November's bag. However, this is a product I'm sure to use.

Mica Beauty Eyeliner. I discovered my dislike for gel liner after using Maybelline Master Drama. Plus, I'm way too lazy to even bother with using a brush for my liner. I haven't swatched it because I'll likely be sticking with my pencils and liquids. Hopefully I'll give this one away or swap it with a friend!

Pixi Flawless & Poreless. Last but not least, this is my favourite product of the bunch. It`s practical, skin-coloured, and very smooth. Though it smells a bit like silicone, I`ll be attempting to make this one a part of my daily foundation routine.

Like last month's bag, 4/5 products I'll eventually to use up. I don't want to say that this was a bad bag. Not in the least bit! All of the products are great brands I have yet to try, and practical too, great basics for someone who doesn't have things like this in their collection. Personally, I found these products a little too much on the simple side. Nothing that blew my mind. I want  my bag to be adventurous... maybe next month Ipsy.

What did you think of this month`s bag? Have you tried any of these products?

  1. I don't have a subscription to this box, but it looks like a decent mix of products. I agree with the lash card being a total waste

  7. I agree with you about the lash cards. I don't think that's really useful...

  8. I will never, EVER understand why they keep sending lash cards. These things shouldn't even exist since there are free alternatives, like you said, business cards!

  9. Ain't nobody need a lash card! I usually just take more eyeshadow and dab it on top to disguise it LOL! Either that or I'll get mascara where I normally apply eyeliner anyway. CAN'T WAIT TO PICK UP MY IPSY BAG WHEN I SWING BY HOME TOMORROW!!!

  12. I received the gold quad from Coastal Scents, and while I really like the colors, one was broken when it arrived :( This is the first time I've received something damaged from Ipsy/My Glam. It's not a big deal, but I hope the trend does not continue...
